Job Description


Our Client, a large manufacturing company in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is seeking to add a Labor Relations Manager to their team.   The company is a solid, well-known organization with over 2500 employees, great working environment and a long-term career opportunity.  

Our Client offers great benefits including a 9/80 work week, so every other Friday off!  Full relocation is offered to the DFW area!

  • Provides day to day direction and leadership on all Labor and Employee related issues.
  • Conducts pre-negotiation review meetings with leadership, identify “must haves” and execute contract negotiation strategy.
  • Negotiates collective bargaining agreements, effects bargaining agreements and/or settlement agreements.
  • Works closely with union leadership and union business agents to understand disputes and work to resolve issues and grievances when appropriate.
  • Develops and delivers labor and employee relations training to managers and front-line supervisors on contract interpretation, grievance administration, union avoidance, labor campaigns, arbitration, effective leadership, positive employee relations, etc.
  • Jointly work with teams on specific projects that are created to address opportunities, major business changes and/or labor and employee relations issues.
  • Prepares for and attends grievance meetings and provides support and direction to front line managers.
  • Maintain all labor relations records, documents, arbitration awards, Memorandums of Understanding and collective bargaining notes and history

Job Requirements

To qualify for the role, you must possess the following:                            

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Labor/Industrial Relations or Human Resources
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in either first or second chair for all union contract negotiations
  • Must have experience providing labor relations in a manufacturing organization with a minimum of 2,000 employees
  • Strong background in administering and interpreting collective bargaining agreements
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with union representatives
  • Experience leading union avoidance activities, including prior organizing campaign experience
  • Ability to work independently and have own areas of responsibility under general supervision
  • Knowledgeable in applicable federal and state employment and labor relations regulations (i.e. FLSA, FMLA, USERRA, EEO, NLRA, Taft-Hartley Act, etc)
