Real Estate Financial Controller

Job Description

Delta Dallas has teamed up with a growing and innovative company in Dallas looking to hire a Financial Controller to manage hands-on daily activities of the accounting and financials within a small, team oriented & vibrant environment while working actively with the Owner(s) and CFO.  Ideal candidate will possess (3) years of commercial real estate and/or property accounting experience.  Responsible for financial accounting, reporting, analysis, and business partner support.

Job Duties

  • Manage the day to day activities of property/financial accounting
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Journal entries
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Financial review, analysis, and reporting
  • Complete monthly and quarterly accounting closes
  • Provide managerial review, reporting and analysis
  • Budget review and analysis; forecasting
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Exhibit proficiency with the Company’s general ledger and operational systems
  • Assist the CFO and Owner(s) with special projects as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting REQUIRED; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting – multiple entity and public accounting highly preferred
  • Commercial real estate, fixed asset real estate and/or real estate development/property accounting REQUIRED
  • Strong leadership skills with working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Working knowledge of partnership accounting, consolidations, and equity accounting for investments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel (i.e. pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
  • Ability to self-start and self-motivate, efficient style with high standards for quality of processes and results
  • Analytical quick learner with excellent organizational and communicational skills
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with various level of employees and senior management in small team environment
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely – oral and written
