Insurance Verification Specialist Responsibilities & Duties

  • Verify patients' insurance coverage and benefits prior to medical procedures.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to ensure accurate verification.
  • Review insurance documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Update patient records with insurance information and verification status.
  • Resolve any discrepancies in insurance coverage and communicate with necessary parties.
  • Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits and coverage limitations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate pre-authorizations are obtained.
  • Follow up on claims and ensure timely resolution of any issues.
  • Generate reports on insurance verification metrics and workflows.

Insurance Verification Specialist Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in medical billing and coding.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and insurance policies.
