Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager / Accounting Manager to join our growing team and play a key role in both the financial and operational success of the organization. This individual will serve as the primary accounting and operations professional within the business, overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, managing project-related financial operations, and partnering closely with leadership and the company's external CFO/accounting partner to drive process improvements and support continued growth.

This is a highly visible role that requires someone who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, manage projects from an operational standpoint, and implement solutions—all while overseeing the daily accounting responsibilities of a small, fast-paced construction company.
Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance
  • Manage the full cycle of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end close activities.
  • Prepare financial reports and documentation for leadership and the external accounting/CFO partner.
  • Partner with the external accountant/CFO on a weekly basis regarding financial reporting, questions, and business performance.
  • Ensure accuracy in bookkeeping and maintain organized financial documentation.

Operations & Project Management
  • Oversee day-to-day business operations and support company leadership.
  • Manage project administration by monitoring project financials, tracking budgets, coordinating timelines, and ensuring projects remain organized from inception through completion.
  • Partner with project managers and field teams to ensure accurate project costing, invoicing, and financial reporting.
  • Evaluate current accounting systems, software, and operational processes, recommending improvements that increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Assist with workflow coordination, project tracking, scheduling, and operational planning.
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices across accounting and operations.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to ownership, providing insight and recommendations to support company growth.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and operational leadership experience.
  • Construction industry experience is required.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, reconciliations, bookkeeping, and project accounting.
  • Experience working independently in a small business or "team of one" accounting environment.
  • Ability to think strategically while remaining willing to perform day-to-day accounting tasks.
  • Experience partnering with external accountants, controllers, or CFOs.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience evaluating and improving accounting systems, operational workflows, and business processes is highly preferred.

Personality & Soft Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Grit and tenacity.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Exceptional multitasker.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • A proactive, ownership mentality.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A desire to grow alongside the business and take on increasing responsibility.

Why Join?
  • Growing company with exciting expansion plans.
  • Small, collaborative environment with strong visibility to ownership.
  • Opportunity to work with a well-established organization experiencing rapid growth.
  • Significant opportunity to influence business operations, improve processes, and help shape the future of the organization.
  • Long-term career growth with increasing leadership responsibilities.
